The opportunity to ‘prove your mettle’ is knocking, again. In search of the right ‘candidates’, Raghu and Rannvijay visited Chandigarh on Thursday, to set the pace for the MTV Roadies’ auditions.
New twist? The show is going to be all about performance this year — no shortcuts, no alliances, no game-plans, no vote-outs.
Rannvijay Singh, host and first ever winner of MTV Roadies, says, “For the first time, a winner will be selected only on the basis of his/her performance in each task.” Ask him the need to change the basic plot of the show after 10 successful years and he says, “In the past 10 years, I’ve often heard contestants say they did this or that keeping the vote-out in mind.
Our endeavour this time is to eliminate the concept of groupism. It is, however, human nature to form clusters and act on instinct. So, once we take that away from them, it’s going to get interesting!”
About the same, Raghu Ram, judge and mentor on the show, says, “This time, the battle is solely for respect. The eliminations will also be purely performance-based, leaving no space for politics.”
The fan following for Roadies amongst youngsters is no secret. Does it, however, help the generation progress – given some youngsters’ life motto of ‘proving themselves’ on the show? “The show is pure entertainment. But, when we address one youngster, we are talking to a thousand others through him. Thus, we support and select only those who have their head in the right place.” The auditions are being held today at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector 5, Panchkula, 9 am onwards.
