CBI special judge Vimal Kumar on Monday summoned the complainant, KK Malhotra, in the ongoing graft case against tainted Punjab Police deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Raka Ghira.

Malhotra, who has been lodged in prison in connection with a fraud case registered against him, has been summoned for a hearing on January 6. CBI on July 24, 2011, had registered a case against Ghira and Manmohan Singh, the reader to DSP, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Manmohan Singh, a co-accused, had later turned approver in the case.

CBI sleuths had arrested Ghira while allegedly accepting a bribe of `1 lakh from Malhotra, a realtor, for helping him out in an inquiry pending against him. The CBI claimed that Ghira had sought the bribe to facilitate a clean chit to Malhotra in the case.
