The police lodged a first-information report against a local youth and his friend on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 21-year-old girl in Sirsa after they became friends over social networking site Facebook.

According to police, the victim, a resident of Kartarpur village in Punjab, became friends with Vinod on Facebook few days back.

In her complaint to police, she said, Vinod invited her to visit Sirsa and she came to meet him on Sunday. Vinod and his friend came in a car. He offered her juice and later took her for a drive in car. After half-an-hour, the girl lost her consciousness.

When she gained consciousness, she was bleeding and had pain in her stomach and private parts. She found herself abandoned, out of the city. The two accused had escaped. The victim called her relatives at nearby Darbi village and they took her to a hospital.

The police said Vinod forced the girl to consume juice laced with some intoxicant and later raped her. "The girl said she was made to consume juice. The medical report has confirmed rape," the police said. The girl told police that Vinod fled the spot after raping her.

Sub-inspector Kanwar Singh said an FIR has been registered against the accused under Sections 354, 328, 376 and 506 of the IPC.

He said accused Vinod and the victim became friends over Facebook few days back. After that they shared their mobile numbers and started talking to each other. The victim had no knowledge about the accused's village or his father's name, but she accepted his invitation and came to Sirsa on Sunday.

"The accused is on the run. We only have his mobile number and email address. We have given the mobile number and email ID to the cyber cell and will take further action after getting details," he added.
