Girls outshine boys in ISC exams

Girls outshone boys in the Chandigarh region in the Class 12 ISC results declared on Saturday. The first three positions in commerce stream in St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, have been occupied by girls.

While Jasleen Sohal, with 93.3%, secured the first position, Parul Jhawer and Divyanshi Gaur secured 93% and 90%, respectively.

Saturday saw seven students of the school secure between 80-90% marks in the commerce stream. Of this, five were girls with better scores than boys.

Likewise, girls outperformed boys in both medical and nonmedical streams. In St Xavier’s non-medical stream, Manvi Hindwan (88.8%), Nikita Shar ma (87.8%) and Sugosha Ganju (85%) were among the toppers of the school, while Sameeksha Varma with 84.5% bagged the second rank in the school in the medical stream.

The tricity has t hree ISC schools-St Xavier’s, Sector 44; Strawberry Fields School, Sector 26 and Yadvindra Public School (YPS), SAS Nagar.

Among these, YPS, SAS Nagar, has emerged overall winner. Like St Xavier’s, this school also saw girls outshine boys: YPS’s Simrata Kaur Grewal topped the commerce stream in tricity with 93.75%.

Priya Ahluwalia, with 91.5% marks, secured the first rank in the humanities stream in the school. Forty-eight female students took the exam in the school.

Strawberry Fields World School, with only seven students in its first ISC batch, achieved a 100% pass rate. Srivats Singal of the commerce stream secured 81%, the highest in the batch.
