The government coordination committee and municipal corporation (MC) employees have announced to go on strike on October 16 to press for release of the dearness allowance (DA).
The committee is demanding the release of additional 7% DA.
Rakesh Kumar, convener of the co-ordination committee, blamed the administration for deliberately sitting over their long pending demands.
He also said that the co-ordination committee had approached the administration many times, but to no avail.
The other demands of the committee include regularisation of daily wagers and work-charged employees against the vacant posts as per the policy of the Chandigarh administration, comprehensive and secured policy for the contractual employees, Central pay scale and service condition for employees, implementation of basic pay and dearness allowance to daily wage sweepers.
