Govt enhances honorarium of mayors, councillors

The Punjab government has enhanced the amount of honorarium to be paid to mayors, senior deputy mayors and deputy mayors of all municipal corporations in the state. In a release issued here on Saturday, Punjab local bodies minister Anil Joshi said the department had given its nod to the proposal of enhancement in honorarium of mayors, senior deputy mayors, deputy mayors and councillors of all municipal corporations.

The Punjab government has enhanced the amount of honorarium to be paid to mayors, senior deputy mayors and deputy mayors of all municipal corporations in the state.

In a release issued here on Saturday, Punjab local bodies minister Anil Joshi said the department had given its nod to the proposal of enhancement in honorarium of mayors, senior deputy mayors, deputy mayors and councillors of all municipal corporations.

Giving details, the minister said the honorarium of mayor had been hiked from `20,000 to `30,000 per month, senior deputy mayor from `16,000 to `24,000 per month and deputy mayor from `12, 500 to `18, 725 per month.

Similarly, the constituency allowance of mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor has been increased from `10,000 to `15,000 per month and telephone allowance from `2,000 to `3,000 per month.

Joshi said the constituency allowance of councillors had been increased from `10,000 to `15,000 per month where as the telephone allowance for councillor had been enhanced from `2,000 to `3,000 per month.
