Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said the state government was contemplating upon framing a new policy for recovery of pending arrears of electricity bills.

Khattar who was presiding over a meeting of district officials at Jhajjar said there was no shortage of electricity in the state and government was committed to provide round-the-clock electricity to consumers. "But the people should realise that they have to pay for the facility they are availing of," he said.

He directed the officials to bridge the gap between them and administration so as to maintain faith of people in administrative system. Stating clearly on his priority for giving transparent and corruption free administration, Khattar said when the Prime Minister was working for 18 hours a day as a chief servant of the country then all people's representatives and officials needed to work as public servants.

He said the state government would disburse all types of social security pensions through banks after two months so as bring transparency in pension distribution system. Thus officers should inspire people for opening of banks accounts.
