He has become a household name, thanks to his portrayal of a Punjabi girl, Gutthi, on Comedy Nights with Kapil. However, comedian Sunil Grover has reportedly decided to quit the show.

Reports have been doing the rounds that Grover is contemplating quitting the show, and now a source very close to the comedian has confirmed this. “Sunil has made up his mind to quit the show. There is a meeting between him and the channel today,” says the source, adding, “Undoubtedly, he is happy that Gutthi was accepted and loved so much by the audience and he has immense gratitude towards the show for helping him make a place in people’s hearts, and he will surely miss the show.”

Past reports have also suggested that Grover wants to quit the show because he wants to hike his fee. But, the source says it is not just about that. “He is not happy with the makers of the show and he feels it is better that he leaves the show and gets on to doing other things.” So is there a problem between Kapil Sharma, who is the face of the show, and Grover, we ask.

“No, Kapil and Sunil are great friends,” says the source. When contacted, Grover said, “Many people are asking me about this, but I don’t want to comment on the issue.” The spokesperson of the channel on which the show airs, says, “You may not see him for a few episodes as he was travelling, but there is no news of Gutthi quitting the show.”
