Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Sector 45, defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 23, 2-0 (25-9, 25-9) in the under-17 boys’ section of the UT inter-school volleyball tournament, being organised at GMSSS-26 (Timber Market), on Tuesday.
In the other matches of the same section, while GSSS-Kaimbwala defeated Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector 43, 2-1 (19-25, 25-15, 25-13), Vivek High School, Sector 38, also beat St Anne’s School-32 by the same set margin of 2-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-10).
In the corresponding girls’ matches, GMHS-Dhanas beat GSSS-45 2-0 (25-14, 25-14), while GMHS-43 also recorded 2-0 (25-6, 25-9) win against Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School (GGMSSS), Sector 18. Meanwhile, GMSSS-16 brought down GMHS-39 2-0 (25-21, 25-19), while GGMSSS-20 defeated GMSSS-47 2-1 (25-18, 19-25, 25-13). In the last match, GMSSS-10 beat DAV Model School, Sector 15, 2-0 (25-3, 25-7).
Mount Carmel School-47 drubbed GMSSS-33 32-6 in the under-17 boys’ section of the UT inter-school basketball tournament, being played at Sector-46 sports complex, on Tuesday.
In the other matches of the section, Gurukul Global, Manimajra, beat DAV Model School-15 22-4, while Chandigarh Baptist School-45 downed RIMT World School, Manimajra, 25-8. Also, St Kabir School-26 defeated GMSSS-26 (Timber Market) 32-24.
In the corresponding girls’ event, St Kabir-26 defeated Ajit Karam Singh International Public School (AKSIPS), Sector 45, 35-5, while St Anne’s-32 brought down Ankur Public School-14 38-6. Also, Carmel Convent School-9 defeated Sri Aurobindo School-27 28-5.
Carmel Convent School-9 defeated GGMSSS-20 4-1 in the under-14 girls’ section of the UT inter-school netball tournament, being organised in KB DAV School, Sector 7, on Tuesday.
However, the GGMSSS-20 team avenged their loss in the corresponding under-17 event, getting the better of Carmel Convent-9 5-3.
In the under-19 event, Mount Carmel-47 drubbed Sacred Heart-26 9-4, while Moti Ram Arya School-27 blanked DAV Model School-15 7-0. In another match, GMSSS-20 got the better of hosts KB DAV-7 7-1.
In the under-14 boys’ matches, GMSSS-20 downed St Peter Senior Secondary School-37 8-0, while GMSSS-28 beat Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School-38 6-2.
Vivek High School-38 defeated GMSSS-33 2-0 in the under-14 girls’ section of the inter-school tennis tournament, being played at the Lake Sports Complex, on Tuesday. In other matches of the same section, DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, brought down Gurukul Global, Manimajra, 2-0, while St Joseph School-44 defeated GMHS-41 2-1.
In the under-17 boys’ event, Delhi Public School-40 defeated DAV Senior Secondary School-8 2-0, while Carmel Convent-9 downed Mount Carmel-47 2-0.
Elsewhere, Gurukul Global-Manimajra beat Strawberry Field-26, and Sacred Heart School-26 defeated Ryan International Public School-49, with the identical scores of 2-1.
Angad sounded the board twice to help Ryan International School, Sector 49, drub GMSSS-15 4-0 in the under-14 boys’ section of the UT inter-school hockey tournament, being played at the Sector-18 hockey stadium, on Tuesday.
The winners started the match on an aggressive note, and their early attacks on the rival defence produced immediate result: in the third minute of the play, Angad scored the first goal for the side. Seven minutes later, Eknoor made it 2-0. While Angad scored the team’s third, and his second goal, of the match in the 29th minute, Daman rounded off the winners’ tally in the 34th minute by making it 4-0.
In the corresponding under-17 event, Government High School, Sector 15, outplayed Shivalik Public School, Sector 41. For the winners, Vikas Nagesia scored the opening goal in the 16th minute, while Arjun followed it up with the second goal in the 40th minute. In the second half, Shubham (45th minute) and Arun (50th minute) rounded off the winners’ tally by netting one goal each.
In the second match of the boys’ under-17 event, DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, got the better of GMSSS-Maloya 3-0. For the winners, Vishwal opened the account in the 12th minute, while Javed doubled the lead in the very next minute. Akash sealed the deal in favour of DAVSSS-8 in the 32nd minute.
