The Government Teachers Union (GTU) has condemned the guidelines issued by the Punjab education department to eliminate coping-practice during examinations.
State president of the GTU Karnail Singh Sandhu said: "The union is strongly and firmly opposing the coping-practice and has never supported those favouring such malpractice and never ever in future it will support any one indulge in wrong and immoral activity like coping."
Sandhu said, "Cancellation of leaves of teachers - who have been availing leaves on the prior approval of the appropriate authorities - not allowing the DEOs to adjust the teachers, who have been deployed by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) in the farthest corners away from their posting stations. Only the DEOs, the centre-superintendents and the invigilators will be held responsible in case students are found coping during the board exams; are clear indicators that the education department -under the fit and hysteria to eradicate coping has lost all wit and sense."
