Anandpur Sahib MP and Shiromani Akali Dal spokesman Prem Singh Chandumajra and Istri Akali Dal president and former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur have ‘advised’ former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu to tender an apology for allegedly distorting Gurbani.

Talking to mediapersons separately here, both leaders said preferably nobody should use Gurbani in his or her speech.

On what action should be taken against Sidhu, Jagir Kaur said he was not a Sikh as he was working against Sikh tenets by conducting ‘havan’ and trimming his beard. No action can be taken against him as per the tenets, which provide that only a baptised Sikh can be given religious punishment, she added.
Chandumajra and Jagir Kaur said Sidhu should accept his mistake and tender an apology, adding that he must gave an assurance that such a mistake would not be repeated.

When asked whether Sidhu should be summoned by the Akal Takht, Jagir Kaur said it was up to the jathedar to decide on the issue.
