Showcasing remarkable strides in education, the Heritage School in Gurgaon is the only school from NCR that features among the top 10 schools in India based on their average aggregate.
Situated in Sector 62, the school’s aim is on inclusive education and holistic development of students. In order to make the learning process more appealing, the school has incorporated visual aids, dramatisation of events, debates, experiments but the core syllabus is in sync with CBSE guidelines.
Fashion studies, legal studies, home science and journalism are among the 23 subjects which are taught from Class 11 onwards.
The students have done remarkably well in the board with around 99% of the class 12 students having secured more than an 80% aggregate this year. “Half of the students in class 12 secured above 92%,” said Vishnu Kartik, associate director and senior programme leader at Heritage School.
Heritage has nearly 300 teachers for 2700 students making it a ratio of one teacher for nine students.
“Last year we spent about Rs 1.3 crore on teacher empowerment which also includes their training and retreat. Once the educators start teaching here, they undergo a re-orientation to understand the purpose of what they are teaching. We take our teachers and students every year for an expedition,” said Manit Jain, director, The Heritage Schools.
Students feel the personal attention and theme based learning has helped them understand life skills.
“I am studying economics at the graduation level and my fundamental concepts are already clear. The new approach to the curriculum helped us explore ourselves,” said Ashira Bhatia, a former class 12 student of the school.
