Gurpreet Toor takes over as new Rupnagar SSP

Gurpreet Singh Toor took over as new the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Rupnagar, on Thursday.

Toor replaced Ravcharan Singh Brar, whose postng is awaited.

A 2005-batch Indian Police Services (IPS) officer, Toor, was posted as zonal assistant inspector general (AIG)-CID, Ludhiana, before his present assignment.

He also remained SSP of Barnala, Faridkot, Ludhiana (rural) and deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Ludhiana.

Toor has also written two books namely 'Sambhalo Punjab' and 'Jeevey Jawani' and a play 'Karmi' against drug abuse among youth.

Outgoing SSP Ravcharan Singh Brar will serve his post for another three months. During his tenure, Brar had taken steps to tone up the police functioning and check illegal mining in Rupnagar, which had reportedly annoyed the mining mafia and some politicians.
