District sessions judge SK Aggarwal on Wednesday awarded two-year jail to a drug addict for “committing thefts habitually”.The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the convict, Nizamuddin, 32, a resident of Milk Colony, Dhanas.

The police said three cases of motorcycle theft and a case of chain snatching were registered against Nizamuddin. He was in the past convicted and awarded seven-year jail for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and was on bail when he was arrested on April 25 for theft of a motorcycle.

He was arrested on the complaint of Satpal Singh, a resident of SAS Nagar, whose motorcycle was stolen from the Sector-22 market on April 18. The police record revealed that Nizamuddin was facing trials in 11 cases, and had been convicted in seven cases.
