The Punjab and Haryana high court on Friday granted bail to Paramjeet Singh Raipur and Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi in the Harpreet Kaur abduction and forcible abortion case.

Both of them were lodged in Patiala central jail after a special Patiala CBI court had convicted and sentenced them to five years' imprisonment on March 30. The high court had earlier granted bail to Nishan Singh, Bibi Jagir Kaur's former gunman, in the case.

However, Bibi has not moved any bail application in the high court till date.

The CBI court had convicted Bibi Jagir Kaur, Nishan Singh, Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi and Paramjit Singh Raipur for conspiring to cause her daughter's miscarriage 12 years ago. The court had, however, acquitted the four from charges of murder.

Bibi's daughter Harpreet had died under mysterious circumstances in April 2000. She was cremated the following day without an autopsy or inquest. Bibi had claimed that Harpreet had died because of food poisoning.

A week later, Kamaljit Singh of Bibi's native Begowal village had moved the Punjab and Haryana high court alleging Harpreet had been murdered at Jagir's behest.

Kamaljit said Harpreet and he had secretly married and she was pregnant with his child. A month before her death, Harpreet had allegedly been sedated and a 27-week-old male foetus was aborted.
