Haryana aims to add 500 MW

Haryana Government aims to add 500 MW renewable energy based power generation by the year 2012. Stating this, a spokesman of the Renewable Energy Department said that the State Government had been promoting Renewable Energy Sources to meet the energy demand of the people.

Haryana Government aims to add 500 MW renewable energy based power generation by the year 2012. Stating this here today, a spokesman of the Renewable Energy Department said that the State Government had been promoting Renewable Energy Sources to meet the energy demand of the people.

A policy on Generation of Electricity through renewable Energy sources had also been notified to attract private sector investors.

He said that the State Government had approved Detailed Project Reports for setting up of 20 biomass power projects of 183 MW capacity, 4 small hydro projects of 10.8 MW capacity and one Solar Power Project of 3 MW capacity with private sector investment of about Rs 803 crore. A 6 MW small hydro project would be commissioned by December 2009.

He said that three projects of 4.8 MW were commissioned in Cooperative Sugar Mills at Gohana, Sonipat and Meham. Two such projects of 40 MW in cooperative sugar mills of Shahabad and Rohtak had been set up which would be commissioned soon.
