Haryana health minister has narrow escape

Health minister and Ambala MLA Anil Vij escaped unhurt after the car he was in was hit by a trailer on National highway 1 on Wednesday.

Health minister and Ambala MLA Anil Vij escaped unhurt after the car he was in was hit by a trailer on National highway 1 on Wednesday.

The minister was on his way to Sadar Bazar when a trailer coming from the opposite side hit the right side of the vehicle, leaving the portion damaged. The minister was driving the vehicle.

Some locals escorted Vij back to his residence in Shastri Nagar, which was barely 300 metres from the accident site. "It was an accident. God saved me," said Vij, adding that he would not press charges against the truck driver.

Meanwhile, as news of the incident spread, supporters began pouring in. Later, the minister sent messages to his supporters stating he was well. Half an hour after the incident, the minister left for
Chandigarh to attend the ongoing assembly session.

Meanwhile, police detained the truck driver, Takhat Pal Singh, a resident of Rurkei village in Kurkshetra for a while. Vij has been going to the market since the last two decades as a part of his morning routine for morning tea and chats with his supporters.
