The son of a 90-yearold former lady army doctor has lodged a complaint against former UT home secretary Anil Kumar, now posted in Haryana, alleging that the latter’s official car knocked his mother down in the parking lot of Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, on Friday evening.
He said his mother was taken to the Command Hospital in Panchkula from where she was discharged after remaining under observation for 24 hours.
Captain Inderpreet Singh Dhanoa, 56, said his mother got injury after being hit by the official vehicle of Anil Kumar.
He alleged the officer did not even show the courtesy to enquire about the wellbeing of his injured mother after the mishap and instead went inside the theatre as if nothing had happened.
Capt Dhanoa said his mother was a doctor in the army and had the distinction of first lady army doctor posted in J&K. “We were hurt as the bureaucrat did not call them to know the condition of his mother,” he said.
Meanwhile, IAS officer Anil Kumar said the incident had taken place in the parking lot of the Tagore Theatre and there was no way his driver could have been speeding. He claimed that he had offered the injured woman a glass of water and attended to her properly.
He said everything had been recorded in the CCTV camera and his version could be corroborated from the camera footage. He said the allegation against him was baseless.
The Sector 19 station house officer, Maninder Singh, said they had received the complaint and would probe the matter.
