The Haryana Kala Parishad staged four socially relevant Haryanvi short satirical plays by leading theatre groups to mark the World Theatre Day at the Yavanika open air theatre, on Saturday.
After the chief guest, thespian Kamal Arora, lighted the traditional lamp, the DAV College Faridabad team, led by director actor Karan Saini, laid bare the rampant evil of female foeticide to perfection in their play ' Bhitrala Kab Jage Ga'. Karan Saini won applause for his brilliant performance.
An ode to parenthood was presented by Harikesh and troupe Bhiwani in 'Maa Baap Sab Se Uppar'. Academician Dr Baljit Singh borrowed celestial characters to depict the ill governance, social evils, reigning corruption in his Haryanvi play 'Dharti Ne Kaun Sudhare Ga'. GVM Girls College, Sonepat team led by Ravi Mohan staged 'Haryana Grehan' another play, a satire on the ethics of contemporary education system.
Though all he plays were replete with humour, they spelt didacticism and wisdom. JK Singh of AIR anchored the show while Leela Saini, senior cultural officer, Haryana Kala Parishad expressed gratitude to artists and audience.
