Haryana MLAs Zile Ram Sharma and OP Jain, accused of abetting the suicide of a former sarpanch, who had applied for interim bail to attend the assembly session withdrew their application on Friday.
Their counsel Umrish Gandhi told mediapersons that as the MLAs wanted to apply for regular bail in the Punjab and Haryana high court, they withdrew their application for interim bail.
The court had, on January 4, framed charges under Section 306 (for abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Sharma, Jain and his personal assistant Rajinder Sharma in the suicide case of Karam Singh.
Jain is an independent MLA, while Zile Ram is a Congress legislator.
When the allegations surfaced, Jain was transport minister and Zile Ram chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) and both had to resign from their respective posts.
The CBI charge-sheet says Karam Singh was fed up with Jain and Sharma as they were not returning `12.5 lakh bribe money that they had allegedly taken from him on the pretext of providing jobs to three people.
