A woman's body was found tied to a window in a house at Laha village under Naraingarh subdivision on Thursday evening.

Locals suspected that it was a case of honour killing and after killing her, the body was tied. She had eloped with her lover from Pehowa in Kurukshetra district five days ago. Her lover Sonu has gone missing.

Deputy commissioner of police (rural) Nazneen Bhasin said the woman has been identified as Komal, a resident of Bara Samana village near Pheowa.

She said a murder and kidnapping case had been registered against the victim's family and others. "The body has been sent to the Naraingarh civil hospital for the post-mortem examination," the DCP said.

Dalbir, a resident of Laha village, alleged that his brother Sonu, who was living with his parents at Bara Samana, had been kidnapped. He said that on the evening of September 19, Sonu and Komal had come to his place asking for shelter. Dalbir claimed that he had advised them to return, as he did not want to enter into any controversy.

Locals said the boy and the girl, belonging to different castes, had eloped from their house five days back and wanted to marry. On the morning of September 20, when Dalbir was on way to fetch milk, he was confronted by three persons, including Komal's brother Ninder and her father, asking for her whereabouts. He told them that Sonu might know her.On his return, he found Komal's body tied to a window.
