In a major decision, Haryana government has approved the widening of the scope of pension benefit of pre-2006 pensioners in the state.
An approval in this regard was given by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, an official spokesperson said on Monday, adding, the decision will be implemented with immediate effect.
As per the decision, the pension of these pensioners would be stepped up to 50 per cent of the sum of minimum pay in the pay band and the grade pay corresponding to the pre-revised pay scale from which the pensioner had retired.
Similarly, the normal family pension in respect of pre-2006 pensioners or family pensioners would also be stepped up to 30 per cent of the sum of minimum of pay in the pay band and the grade pay corresponding to the pre-revised pay scale in which the government servant had retired, he said.
The decision is likely to place an additional burden of Rs 500 crore per year on the state exchequer, the spokesperson said.
