A day after the Press Club, Jalandhar, received an anonymous letter in which the sender had threatened to kill 21 judges of Punjab and Haryana high court on August 21. The court held an emergency meeting and assured that required steps would be taken.

The letter stated, “August 21 is going to be the black day for the Punjab government. We are going to carry out 21 blasts and will kill 21 judges of the Punjab and Haryana high court. We will take the revenge of our lost brothers. Stop us if you can (sic).”

Paramjeet Singh, station house officer (SHO), police station division number-4 said, “The letter is in our possession. It is typed in Punjabi. It seems to be an attempt by someone to create panic, but we are looking into the matter.”
