The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday directed the court's committee on administrative side to delete or correct the five questions that were apparently wrong in the Punjab Civil Services (Judicial Branch) preliminary examination held on June 8 and declare the result by July 19.

The directions came from the division bench headed by justice Hemant Gupta on a bunch of petitions filed by more than 50 candidates challenging the wrong questions or answer keys of the preliminary examination, the result of which was declared on June 10.

However, during the resumed hearing of the case on Monday, the court was informed that the committee had already corrected two questions (No 27 and 114). However, the counsels appearing for the petitioners informed that either questions No 35, 49, 57, 64 and 86 or their answers were also wrong.

The petitioners also submitted that now it had become a trend that the Punjab Civil Services (Judicial Branch) and Haryana Civil Services (Judicial Branch) examination results were being challenged because of wrong questions or answers. Hence, the high court committee should display questions as well as answer keys on its website and invite objections from the public before the declaration of the results.

On this, the court also directed the high court committee to consider the suggestions given by the petitioners.
