In a further relief for former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, the Punjab and Haryana High court on Wednesday extended his interim bail in the Ludhiana city centre scam while directing him to approach the trial court.
Extending his interim bail, Justice Ranjit Singh Randhawa directed Singh to appeal in the trial court at Ludhiana for a regular bail.
Earlier, the court had granted interim bail to Singh till filing of chargesheet in the trial court by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau.
The VB had last week filed a chargesheet against the former Chief Minister, his two family members and 34 others in this regard.
Singh had moved the high court, seeking extension of the interim bail as he apprehended arrest by the investigating agencies.
Singh, who was not summoned by the VB after July 30, had alleged in the court that the agency wanted his custody only to humiliate and harass him.
