A Dera Sacha Sauda follower, who has claimed to have been castrated (made impotent by removing testicles) along with 400 other followers on being promised enlightenment, moved the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the incident.

Fatehabad district resident Hans Raj Chauhan alleged that Dera doctors castrated the petitioner and others by making them believe that they could achieve God through Dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in case they offered themselves for castration.

Taking up the petition, the bench headed by Justice Mahesh Grover issued a notice of motion to the Haryana government and CBI, directing them to submit their replies by October 10.

It was brought to the court's notice that due to castration, the petitioner and other followers had faced hormonal imbalance in their bodies, resulting in the loss of body hair and development of breasts. They had become incapable of having children and had to face humiliation at the hands of general public that now treated them as Eunuchs, the petitioner said.

Chauhan has sought directions to the Fatehabad superintendent of police to provide security to him and his family. He has also requested the court to issue directions to the authorities concerned to suitably compensate the 400 Sadhus, who, he alleged, had been rendered impotent and were living under stigma.

"Gurmeet Ram Rahim has brain washed these Sadhus to such an extent that they are under his full control. Gurmit Ram Rahim used to bestow Amrit (Holy drink/elixir) to these Sadhus from his own hands and used to tell his Sadhus that Guru Gobind Singh Jee, the tenth Guru of the Sikh's baptised only 5 Sikhs, he will baptise hundred's like you," Chauhan said.

He added that of the 400 hundred castrated Sadhus, nearly 100 were in the internal ring of the Gufa (cave) and houses constructed nearby and were being used to protect Gurmeet Ram Rahim's family.

The petitioner claimed to have been associated with the Dera since 1990 and used to sing Bhajans (religious songs), play musical instruments at the Dera and was castrated in 2000.
