The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday, turned down the plea seeking a stay on oath ceremony for induction of 21 chief parliamentary secretaries of Punjab. The ceremony is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

The petitioner JS Bhatti had stated that the CPSs were getting perks and facilities, almost at par with the ministers. This was in fact a backdoor entry to please the MLAs who were aspiring to be ministers but could not hold the post due to restrictions on maximum number of ministers.

Holding that the bench could not interfere at this stage, Justice Rameshwar Malik has posted the matter for April 16, when it would be taken up before appropriate bench.
