The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday directed the Punjab police to submit the inquiry report within two months in the Patiala patwari (revenue officer) frame-up case, wherein patwari Mohan Singh was falsely implicated by senior police officers.
The court headed by justice Rameshwar Singh Malik directed senior superintendent of police (SSP), Ferozepur, to comply with the high court directions and submit the report. The court observed that earlier also two months' time had been granted by the court, but nothing substantial had been done by the police.
A case was registered on August 23, 2012, against Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) joint director Surinder Pal Singh, former SSP Shiv Kumar Sharma, SSP Jaspal Singh, SP Banarsi Das and inspector Isher Singh. It was alleged in the FIR that these officers, while in the VB, had framed Mohan Singh after he demanded Rs 20 as official fee for mutation record from Sharma.
The case would now come up for hearing on December 12.
