Union health minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will visit the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh on Saturday. It will be his first visit since he has taken over as health minister.
Sources at the institute said he would chair the institute body committee meeting at PGIMER.
Nadda is the president of governing body of the institute.
He will be inaugurating two new patient care facilities at PGIMER. These are Robotic Assisted Surgical Facility and Image Guided Radiation Therapy Facility.
His previous visit to the institute planned on January 24 was postponed.
Robotic Assisted Surgery Facility in the Department of Urology is the only such facility North of Delhi.
Another facility that he will inaugurate is Image Guided Radiation Therapy Complex houses a High Energy Linear Accelerator and a CT Simulator along with other accessories. The facility has latest techniques of radiation for treatment of different cancers.
