Two women were arrested for creating ruckus in an inebriated condition and breaking the windows of two cars, including that of local Congress president BB Bahl, in Sector 26 on Wednesday night.

The accused have been identified as Anu, 32, and Navi Brar, 31, both residents of SAS Nagar.

The women, along with their friends, had gone to Crystal Lounge and Bar in Sector 26, located near Hotel President, which is owned by Bahl.

Sector 26 station house officer (SHO) inspector Anokh Singh said at the bar, a heated argument broke out between the friends and a scuffle ensued wherein one of the male members of the group sustained a head injury. The accused also misbehaved with the staff members of the bar, he added.

Later around 2:30am, the group came out of the bar, and while hurling abuses, the two women first smashed the rear windshield of Bahl’s Skoda Superb parked outside his hotel, with a brick and later broke the window of a Tata Indica belonging to Amit, resident of Manimajra.

As the police were informed, all members of the group fled the scene, leaving behind Anu and Navi.

Assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Parminder Singh said both accused were arrested for damaging property and later released on bail.

Talking to HT, BB Bahl, who lodged a complaint with the police, said he was sleeping in the hotel when his staff informed him about the incident. “Due to the irresponsible behaviour of the women, I have to bear the loss,” he said.

This is second incident in the past week where women created ruckus under the influence of liquor.

On October 24, three women were arrested for assaulting a woman constable and creating ruckus at the Sector 20 roundabout.
