Sushma Verma, the woman batsman and wicket keeper from Himachal Pradesh, has been selected in the Indian squad for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) and T20 series against South Africa.

The Indian team will play three ODIs and a T20 against the touring South Africa team, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru starting November 24.

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) chief and MP Anurag Thakur, in a statement issued here, congratulated Sushma.

"Our best wishes are with Sushma. She has taken women's cricket to a new height in the state and I am sure other young women cricketers will follow her footsteps," said Thakur, adding that she was first selected only for the Test match, but her selection for rest of the series testifies her dedication and potential to the game.

Sushma Verma is a right-hand batswoman and a wicket-keeper.
