Hisar and Amritsar were hottest in Haryana and Punjab on Thursday as heat wave swept continued unabated.
While Hisar was hotter by four degrees than normal recording a high of 45 degrees celsius, hot weather also prevailed in Amritsar, where mercury shot to 44.2 C, up four degrees, the Meteorological Department said in Chandigarh.
Ludhiana and Patiala also braved a hot day registering respective maximums of 42 C and 41.6 C.
Karnal in Haryana was hotter by three degrees at 41 C while Ambala also experienced the hot weather at 39.6 C. Severe heat also swept Bhiwani at 43.4 C.
The maximum temperature at Chandigarh was 39.4 C.
The Met has forecast dust storm or thunder storm likely at isolated places in the two states by on Friday.
