A 40-year-old home guard volunteer of Chandigarh Police was found dead in his three-wheeler at Police Lines, Sector 26, here on Sunday morning.
The deceased, identified as Palsora village resident Rajbir Singh, was posed at the mess in Police Lines. He is survived by a wife and three children.
After his duty, he used to drive a three-wheeler.
Giving details, deputy superintendent of police (east) Vijay Kumar said the police were informed about a body lying in a three-wheeler by a passerby around 6.30am.
A police team rushed to the spot and found the victim unconscious. He was rushed to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) where he was declared brought dead.
The body has been kept in the hospital's mortuary and will be handed over to his family after a postmortem.
The police have ruled out murder as there were no injury marks on the body. DSP Vijay Kumar said the exact cause of the death could only be ascertained after the postmortem.
