Midfielder of Kingfisher east Bengal Jogpreet Singh alias Jaspreet and his cook Ravi Singh (18), who had been arrested on a complaint of gangrape of a 14-year-old girl in the footballer's apartment at Dum Dum, would be produced before the additional chief judicial magistrate court here in North 24 Parganas on Wednesday, said a senior officer of the Barrackpore police commissionerate.

While Punjab striker Jogpreet (23) and Ravi, both are residents of Hosiarpur, were taken into custody late Tuesday night from their Diamond City north apartment at Nagerbazar, two other footballers, one of them is Prayag United Balbeer Singh and another identified as Joseph, also accused of the crime were evading arrest.

Jogpreet is a former player of Churchill Brothers.

Police said following the complaint lodged by the father of the victim girl, Jitendra Singh, a raid was conducted and Jogpreet and Ravi Singh were apprehended from the apartment. But Balbeer Singh living with Jogpreet in the same flat as well as another footballer Joseph fled away.

It was alleged that girl was called by Ravi Singh to clean the second floor flat in the apartment on October 29 afternoon and the three footballers and their cook raped the girl there.

When the girl returned home sick in the evening, on inquiry, she narrated the entire incident of gangrape.

The girl was, however, examined medically, police said, adding she would also be interrogated in due time.

However, a case was registered under section 376(2G) (2f) and 506 of the IPC against the accused in this respect.
