HP leaders hit campaign trail in Haryana

With the election campaign hotting up in Haryana, leaders of the ruling Congress and opposition BJP in Himachal Pradesh are also hitting the campaign trail in the neighbouring state that goes to polls on October 15.

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh, who is currently on a tour to Kullu, will shortly campaign in Haryana to seek votes for Congress candidates while his arch political rival and BJP leader Prem Kumar Dhumal will hit the dusty roads in the state to canvass for the saffron party.

Dhumal will campaign in Naraingarh and Kalka constituencies which share their boundaries with Himachal Pradesh. Besides, he will also address rallies in Radaur, Ladwa, Shahbad and Ambala.

Dhumal’s MP son Anurag Thakur, who is national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), is already campaigning in Haryana. The Hamirpur MP is scheduled to address 21 rallies across the state.

Kangra MP and veteran BJP leader Shanta Kumar will also seek votes for his party in Haryana, though his office has still not issued his itinerary.

Meanwhile, Rajiv Bindal, former Himachal Pradesh health minister and BJP’s state general secretary, is looking after party’ election management in Haryana while Himachal Pradesh BJP media incharge Praveen Sharma is handling media affairs in the poll-bound state.

In five of the 21 districts in Haryana, BJP leaders from Himachal Pradesh have been appointed election incharges.

Shimla parliamentary organisational secretary Sanjeev Katwal is incharge of Ambala district, Mandi parliamentary segment organisational secretary Shishupal Dharma is incharge of Yamunanagar. Young BJP leader Rakesh Sharma is incharge of Kurukshetra, tribal leader Surat Negi from Kinnaur is incharge of Kaithal while Purshottam Gueleria is at the helm of affairs in Panchkula.

Kasauli legislator Rajiv Saijal and Nalagarh MLA KL Thakur are also campaigning in Haryana.

Besides Virbhadra, Himachal Pradesh Congress chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will also join the campaign in Haryana.

Congress general secretaries Ram Lal Thakur and Harshwardhan Chauhan are party observers in Bhiwani and Yamunagar districts respectively.

State congress general secretary and Chintpurni MLA Ajay Mahajan is already campaigning in Gurgaon while Kasumpti legislator Anirudh Singh and All India Congress Committee member Kuldeep Rathore are handling Haryana Congress affairs at its Chandigarh headquarters. Chief parliamentary secretaries Rohit Thakur and Rajesh Dharmani are campaigning in Jind and Faridabad respectively.
