HPU Fee hike issue: High powered committee seeks suggestion

Amid strong protests against fee hike announced by the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), the high-powered committee constituted by the state government to look into the matter on Tuesday sought suggestions from the public on the issue within two days.

Amid strong protests against fee hike announced by the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), the high-powered committee constituted by the state government to look into the matter on Tuesday sought suggestions from the public on the issue within two days.

Earlier on September 22, the state government had constituted a committee headed by retired High Court judge VK Sharma. The other members of the committee include Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission chairperson Sarojini Ganju Thakur and former pro-vice-chancellor of Indus International University, AR Chauhan. The committee would give its report within one month.
The committee has sought suggestions from people, including students, till 5pm on October 9.

A government spokesperson said that the committee has set up its office at Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission, Majitha House Complex, Chota Shimla and suggestions could be sent through fax on 0177-2930912 and by email at registrar.hpu@gmail.com

People may appear before the committee to supplement their views and suggestions.
