A 50-member delegation of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers Welfare Association (SSATWA), Chandigarh, handed over a memorandum regarding the regularisation of appointment of teachers under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to union human resource development (HRD) minister Smriti Irani in the presence of state BJP president Sanjay Tandon here on Saturday.
According to the association members, as per norms of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) framed by the ministry of human resource development (MHRD), SSA posts in the city should be created on a regular basis.
However, sources said the Chandigarh administration had appointed teachers on a contract basis under the State Implementation Society, Chandigarh.
President of SSATWA Arvind Rana said the delegation requested the minister to intervene and ensure that these posts were sanctioned separately and all SSA teachers working in the city were given regular appointments.
Rana added that the UT education department had already sent two proposals in this regard to the MHRD secretary.
