Bhavan Vidyalaya, which is famous for producing toppers in the town year after year, has bagged the top spot in this year’s HT-- C-fore survey. The school, which was ranked first in 2013 as well, has scored 757 out of 1,000 points in the survey, which assesses tricity schools on 14 counts. It has topped teacher care and development, competence of teachers, academic rigour, value system integration and value for money in the survey.

Principal Shashi Bannerji believes that fulfilling the expectations of parents is the key to success: “These days, parents generally have only one child. They have very high expectations from schools. We have to earn their trust and satisfy them.”

The school, which is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has a total of 2,400 students and 110 teachers.

Activity co-ordinator Urvashi Kakkar says: “Our USP is the way we balance academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.”

Divpriya Chawla, a second-year student of law at National Law University, Jodhpur, and an alumnus of Bhavan Vidyalaya, says: “The school provided me ample opportunities to hone my public speaking and writing skills, which are key skills that an aspiring lawyer should posses.” The Gurukul, which was ranked third last year, has clinched the second spot this year with 756 points.
