Senior Congress leader Bir Devinder Singh on Saturday said the unprecedented hullabaloo on the separate gurdwara management committee for Haryana had reached a flashpoint.
He said the state was almost set to trigger a civil war among Sikhs of Haryana and volunteers of Shiromani Akali Dal from all over, including the task force of the SGPC. After the notification of the new Haryana Gurdwara Management Act, 2014, the situation had become almost explosive, he added.
According to Bir Devinder, as per the contours of the new legislation passed by the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, it has become an act by all means and has also become implementable by virtue of its provisions, notwithstanding the belated objections from the union home secretary. The management and control of the gurdwaras under the territorial jurisdiction of Haryana by the SGPC had virtually become legally untenable.
Ironically, the central government headed by the BJP, of which SAD is a partner, was either befooling Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh badal without doing anything tangible and result-oriented in the matter for the past 10 days or they were naïve and bereft of the knowledge of constitutional provisions, said the Congress leader.
