Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Partap Singh Bajwa, under fire from former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh to step down owning moral responsibility for the party’s poor show in the state, said he had already offered to the party high command to resign if they deemed it fit.

Talking to Hindustan Times on Thursday, Bajwa said he had submitted a detailed report to the party high command on the performance of the Congress in the recent Lok Sabha polls.

“I will abide by whatever decision is taken. After all, the party’s interest is supreme.

People keen on my exit should know that they are asking the same people who have appointed me as the party chief to remove me.

They should at least give respect and enough time to the party high command to decide the next course of action in the best interests of the Congress in Punjab,” said Bajwa.

He said he had expected better cooperation from Amarinder after being appointed the state Congress chief in March last year.
