Actor-singer Gippy Grewal’s Bollywood debut, Second Hand Husband (2015) alongside Tina Ahuja, didn’t set the cash registers ringing, but this did not surprise the 33-year-old.
“The movie did not do well because it was not a good film. I had a very good idea that it won’t be a hit. As an artist, it’s our job to promote a film. But I could see that the movie did not get any hype. The audience just want good content, and are not concerned with the kind of promotions we do,” says Gippy.
Talking about what went wrong with Sumeep Kang’s directorial, the 33-year-old actor says, “The thought behind the movie was nice. When the film was made and we saw it just before the release, we realised that it was not how we had imagined it. Sometimes you end up making a bad film out of good content, and that is what happened.”
Gippy, who will soon be seen in Baljit Singh Deo’s Punjabi directorial, based on the concept of mistaken identity, is confident of coming back to Bollywood.
“Of course, I will do more Bollywood movies. I just need to finish my commitments to the Punjabi film industry first. When you go to the main industry from the regional film industry, there are so many things you don’t know. I was new in Bollywood and people were also not in the mood to take things seriously. I have learnt so many things,” he says.
