Sleuths of income tax department conducted searches at the palatial house of Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Capt Abhimanyu Sindhu in Rohtak for the second consecutive day today and took away some documents.
Around 10-15 I-T officials from Delhi and Rohtak, accompanied by local police, had reached his house in Sector-14 at around 8am on Thursday morning.
The raiding officials left the house at the end of a 32-hour operation at around 4.30pm on Friday. After the search operation ended, Capt Abhimanyu claimed at a press conference at his house that it was "a routine search operation of income tax department".
Whatever documents were demanded by officials, were supplied to them, he said. Nothing suspicious found in income tax returns or other account statements by raiding officials, the BJP leader added.
Asked whether any documents had been seized, the Punjab BJP co-incharge said that they have taken away a few documents.
He said that he had no knowledge about similar raids carried out in others parts of the country, including Chhattisgarh and Bilaspur in Madhya Pradesh where his family own coal mining business for the past few years.
