The problems of Zulfiqar Khan, the director of the NGO Theatre Age facing charges of unnatural sex with children, have multiplied as two more of his former students have alleged they too were abused by him as teenagers.

Giving an account of his exploitation, one of the victims, who claimed he had taken the photos that nailed Khan, said he joined the NGO in 2007.After about a year, Khan began showing an interest in him and advised him to stay at his home in Sector 25 so that he could study during the night.

At the time, the victim was a student of Class 8.

“I was alone at his residence in Sector 25 one day, when Zulfiqar played a porn movie. Then he offered me drinks, which I refused. He then offered me a cold drink, which I drank and within 15 to 20 minutes, I lost consciousness,” the victim alleged.

“After that he had unnatural sex with me. When I enquired in the morning, Zulfiqar was blunt, saying he had sex with me and advised me to enjoy it.”

The victim said he then stopped going to the NGO. “But Zulfiqar would come to my place, insisting that I rejoin. I joined on the condition that there would not be any sexual exploitation, but again Zulfiqar continued with his misdeeds,” he alleged.

The victim said he parted ways with Theatre Age and met Kanwarpal, a former partner of Khan who has filed a complaint against him. Khan had accused Kanwarpal of theft and fired him.

The victim said he decided to expose Khan after consulting Kanwarpal and captured his “misdeeds” with a camera on January 28. He said he handed over the photos to Kanwarpal and they were later given to police as proof against Khan.

Theatre Age, a NGO which trains underprivileged children in fine art and theatre, was founded by Khan in 1992. It has about 50 children enrolled for its programmes.

Khan was arrested after several children enrolled with the NGO told police that he had allegedly exploited people associated with Theatre Age for years. Four complainants recorded their statements in the presence of a magistrate.

Two more victims record statements

Police said two more victims had approached them and their statements were recorded before a magistrate.

Police raid NGO’s premises in Sector 24

A police team led by deputy superintendent of police (central) Satish Kumar raided Theatre Age’s office in Sector 24 and gathered some documents.

Khan changing statements: Police

Police said Khan initially refused to admit he ever exploited any of his students. DSP Kumar said when Khan was told that there were two complainants, he admitted having exploited them.

After two more complainants recorded their statements, Khan has told police that he sexually exploited only four children, Kumar added.

“We are yet to know when did he start exploiting the children and how many kids fell prey to his misdeeds all these years. It requires a detailed interrogation and probe,” he said.

Nephew's role under scanner

Police said there were some complaints that Khan’s nephew had been threatening some of the victims not to give statement against his uncle. Police said they were trying to ascertain if the nephew abetted the crimes of his uncle.

Cops to ask administration to probe NGO’s funds

Police have decided to write to the administration to look into the NGO’s monetary transactions. They are collecting details of Khan’s bank accounts and other documents to ascertain whether he misused donations for his lavish lifestyle. A senior police official said the administration will be asked to look into the fund trail.
