Just like the fashionista she is, Sonam Kapoor turned heads wearing an on-trend crop top teamed with a high-waisted skirt. She turned up at a college in Jalandhar with co-star Fawad Khan to promote her upcoming film ‘Khoobsurat’, which will release across theatres on Friday.
The actor, who has made a mark with her impeccable style statement, feels responsible for girls who follow her fashion choices.
“It’s a responsibility for me to dress up wisely so that girls may not emulate me in the wrong way. Every girl has a right to look beautiful. I like to be a feminist and I think it is very important for young girls to be well-dressed,” says Sonam.
She further adds, “Clothes make you feel beautiful and young girls out there look up to me; not just for my fashion sense but also for what I represent.”
Sonam says that she has watched the classic 1980 Hrishikesh Mukherjee film of the same name starring the legendary Rekha and loved it. Talking about her character in the film, she says that she is a royal misfit in real life too.
On the other hand, with female admirers swarming over him, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan would love to sing for Bollywood. Apart from being the perfect eye candy, Fawad is also a singer. He began his music career with Pakistani rock band Entity Paradigm as its lead vocalist. His first album ‘Irtiqa’ came out in 2013 and received wide critical appreciation.
“Music has been very personal for me and my taste is very eclectic. Bollywood just happened to me accidently. It was not on my agenda but now I would love to work with many other actors too as the Hindi film industry has an amalgamation of flavours and welcomes singers,” he says.
On asking him about his India experience, Sonam hastily joins in saying that she would miss him a lot after he leaves for Pakistan. On being a heart-throb, Fawad quips, “I always blush when someone says that. But I would love to be in their hearts for my work.” Having some fun with students on campus, Fawad also proposed to a girl on stage while Sonam danced to her numbers from the movie.
