To mark the golden jubilee ceremony of 1965 Indo-Pak war, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the war memorial of Air Force Station here on Monday.

The wreath was laid by air commodore SK Indoria, air officer commanding, 12 Wing, Indian Air Force. On behalf of the veterans, a wreath was laid by Air Mshl MM Singh (retd) followed by offering of flowers by all veterans.

Nineteen war veterans were present on the occasion.

Indoria said it is time to remember the sacrifices and bravery of those who took part in the Indo-Pak war.

He said during the 1965 war, the 12 Wing participated from early August to the end of September by providing the air transport support role.

Both the transport squadrons were heavily involved in the mobilisation of ground forces from central parts of the country to the northern and western sectors.

The only helicopter unit of the station was carrying out continuous detachments from bases in Rajasthan and Gujarat sectors.

A brief presentation on the Indian Air Force's role in the 1965 war was also given.

The celebration ceremony ended with the presentation of mementos to all veterans.

During the war, the IAF was awarded three Maha Vir Chakras and 43 Vir Chakras for displaying exemplary courage.
