ICAI holds orientation for new CAs

The Chandigarh Branch of ‘The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’ (ICAI) on Tuesday organised an orientation programme for newly qualified chartered accountants.

In his welcome address, Uma Kant Mehta, the chairman of ICAI’s Chandigarh chapter congratulated the students for successfully clearing the examination and stressed that the industry looks not only for a good academic record but also a person with a good attitude, all-round personality and good communication skills.

Sanjay Tandon, chairman and managing director of Competent Group of Industries, who spoke on the occasion, said,”Accounting system is very crucial for the promotion of the economy. We need to be trusted and work with a positive attitude. And this could be the reason why Indian CAs have emerged as complete business solution providers and are recognised globally. We can specialise in fields like taxation, information system audit, forensic accounting, fraud detection, etc.”

He said as an auditor, tax consultants, liquidators, it is the job of the chartered accountants to maintain a corruption-free system.

“We should strive towards striking a balance between personal gain and the common good,” he said
The session was followed by Mock Interview by panel consisting of Vijay Kumar Gupta, Uma Kant Mehta and Krishan Joshi.
