Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar organised its first book exhibition on the institute campus here on Monday. IIT Ropar registrar Javagal K Sridhar inaugurated the exhibition.
Addressing a gathering of faculty members, library staff, research scholars and students of the institute, Sridhar said the exhibition was an excellent platform for researchers, academicians and students to share ideas and explore the world of books.
He noted that there were manifold benefits of the exhibition that included wider variety of books, opportunities for students to choose books according to their taste, meeting point for researchers and students from neighbouring universities and so on.
Prof Sridhar suggested speedy procedures from indent to procurement to cut administrative delays and to adopt simplified procedures. He opined that such book exhibitions must be periodical and attract wider participation.'
