A 12-year-old student Gourav was killed after his bicycle was hit by an Alto car near his school on Wednesday morning. He got crushed between the car and a roadside pole. The car driver was also a minor, Himanshu (15), who has been booked.

The incident took place at 7.30 am, when Gourav, a resident of Dadpura Muhalla in Dera Bassi and a Class 6 student of AAR Jain Model Senior Secondary School, was on way to school on his bicycle. As he reached near the school, a speeding car (PB 65 Y 5103) rammed into his bicycle and dragged him to a distance before crushing him against a pole. Gourav sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Derabassi civil hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Himanshu was driving the car while his friend Tinu was sitting next to him. The car belonged to one Karan Rana. Tinu had hired the car from Karan, saying he wanted to visit a hospital with his mother. On the complaint of Gourav’s uncle Kewal Kumar, Derabassi police have booked Himanshu under sections 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of ` 50), 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC and started investigations.
