In Punjab Amarinder ahead of Jaitley while Aam Aadmi Party set for a dream debut

Congress stalwart Capt Amainder Singh consolidated his lead over BJP’s chief strategist Arun Jaitley in the high-stake contest for Amritrsar by 24,044 votes after the third round of counting.

Amarinder has led from the first round, consistently building on his lead over Jaitley is contesting his first election from the city of Golden Temple.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party seems to be set for a dream debut in Punjab with its candidates leading in three of 13 Lok Sabha seats in the border seat. Comedian-turned-politician Bhawant Mann surged ahead with an unassailable lead of over one lakh votes in Sangrur, leaving the Shiromani Akali Dal stalwart-rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Congress ‘s sitting MP Vijay Inder Singh to second and third slots respectively.
