Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday announced to increase the monthly honorarium of all representatives of municipal
corporations, councils and committees and said they would get at least Rs.500 more as compared to Punjab.
Representatives of panchayati raj institutions are already getting higher honorarium in the state.
Hooda was addressing the representatives of urban local bodies, including mayor, senior deputy mayor, deputy mayor and municipal councillor at a function organised on Sunday.
The CM urged the councillors to submit a list of active members in their respective wards and added that they should get in touch with people and add at least 500 new voters in the party in their wards.
“This will lead to victory of the party in the ensuing assembly elections,” the CM added.
The Haryana CM urged the councillors to understand their rights and responsibilities as people had elected them with high hopes and aspirations.
The CM also asked them to constitute a committee in their respective wards to execute developmental works.
While referring to the developmental works for urban areas, the Hooda said many projects had been executed for people during past 10 years.
The present government has simplified the complicated house tax.
With a view to ensure integrated development of town, state gover nment had formulated Rajiv Gandhi Urban Development Mission.
Under this, Rs.470.58 crore had been released during last financial year. Similarly, state urban health mission has been started for extending health care facilities to urban people especially slum population.
